Defiantly not a restoration, more of a custom build to fit our needs. But I think my additions will work great. Not too bad seeing how I started in late February.
And the best part is me and my wife are headed to Yellowstone next weekend in it
After that I am getting back to work on my cars, there are lonely and neglected. Haven't touched them all year.
But I will still be around on the forum for sure!
Enjoy.....
Been so busy on the compact it has turned into a second full time job. Not a whole lot of time for anything else, especially updates. Figured I would post a few quick pictures, sad thing is, it doesn't even look like this anymore. It is completely done but I don't have any pictures yet and it's raining out there. I am going to tow it across the street this weekend and get some really good ones of it not in the back yard.
The wheels are painted now (including the spare tire) and the interior is completely done and put together and awesome. Look for finished pics this weekend!!!

Well we have color.................. This weekend and last weekend I spent allot of time finishing up the basic fabrication of the interior. And cleaning up imperfections.....
And PAINTED today!!!! Huge step for us. Still gotta make the doors and cut/pain/install lots and lots of trim. The trim is going a redish pinkish color......

Haven't been able to work on the compact the last 2 weekends, life takes over sometimes... But now me and my misses are officially married
This weekend was pretty big for inside progress. Worked on the dresser and under counter storage....
This is the shelving for the dresser, This will be covered on the sides and have a door.

These are the baskets that will sit on the shelves in the dresser. I thought these would work pretty good instead of drawers, you can take them out, there lighter and quicker to make than drawers too. These are the Home Depot $8 baskets...

Now here are the slides for the under counter drawers/tubs.

We went to a RV show in Denver and thought this was a great alternative to drawers. Restaurant bus tubs, 15''x20"x5". Orders from a restaurant supply warehouse. All I had to do to modify them was cut the handles off...

Here is one with the handles still.

Here they are in the sliders....

I think the Bus tubs will really be nice compared to drawers as well.
Coming along!! Gremlinguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07545492678481901484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3850715693477634609.post-86436846702176243992011-04-17T14:54:00.001-07:002011-04-17T14:54:50.415-07:00april 16th Update!!

I did work on the Compact all day last Saturday, it just didn't seem to photograph very well so I decided to skip the update... I got all the rear and roof paneling done. Still need to panel the front around the kitchen framing.Got rained out on Sunday..
Today was a HUGE day....
I got the outer framing complete for the Potra Potty closet, the full length dresser that is going in next to the Porta Potty closet and got the rear upper cabinets framed in and covered in 1/4" plywood. I made a little shelf under the upper window. I need to clean up my edges then build the cabinet doors then I am gonna start on the bed.
You need to tilt your head to the side for this one. The dresser basic frame...

Now the Cabinets and the Shelf

I am going to do a bungy net across the rear cabinets instead of doors.

Not allot worth taking pictures of, but about 12 more hours of work...
Finished the insulation.
Finished all the wiring for the out side lights so Karen could finish the insulation.
Fabbed up the tail light mounts. I used some left over aluminum and made a ring behind them to cover up/ patch the nasty holes from the old tail lights and the PO's repairs on them.
Finished up the cargo door mounting. I made a aluminum ring the go behind this as well for some reinforcement and to match the tail lights. (I also wasn't totally happy with my cut).
My dad came over and started framing in the counter I am a metal worker, he is the wood worker. We gotta get this done so I know where the fridge will sit.
And I got started on the paneling. 1 piece so far. (It is just the cheap 1/8 stuff that we are going to paint.)
All in all, I feel it was a pretty productive weekend. Lot's of fun, The wife my Dad and me all working on the Compact for 2 days....
This weekend we went to a Camper salvage yard about an hour away and got some needed supplies. A cargo door for the curb side, a few Shasta emblems the lady had in the back, side marker lights, upper running lights front and rear and interior lights.
I installed the cargo door... This is just a rough install, it will be pulled back off for paint, and I gotta clean up the hole a little bit and add some sealant.

Next I completely finished all the framing. And added braces for cabinets and what not.
I reinforced behind all the exterior lights and added reinforcements for new exterior lights. I reinforced the wing mounts.
Ran new wire for all the exterior lights and ran wire for all the interior lights and appliances.
That was Saturday...
Sunday me and the wife spent all day cutting and installing the insulation... Still have a few pieces to cut and tape in. We got rained out...
She is coming along quite nicely for only being on it for about a Month on the weekends...Gremlinguyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07545492678481901484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3850715693477634609.post-54092231447966914702011-03-27T20:24:00.003-07:002011-03-27T20:24:47.620-07:00Update

Bought in November 2010 for $100. PO told us it was a 68, turned out to be a 65 (not a problem here)
Me and my Wife are doing a simple rebuild (our 2nd Camper restoration).
The next 6 pictures are how we first got it......
